The new Tandy Leather retail facility is located directly adjacent to Tandy’s corporate headquarters. The new retail facility features high visibility from I-20, two miles east of I-35W. Tandy Leather is a leading major leather and leathercraft supplier to manufacturers, retailers, and distributors worldwide. The 20,000 square foot design / build facility is constructed of 24 foot high tilt-wall panels on three sides and a 27 foot high full glass facade entry on the north elevation. The two freestanding aluminum panel square arches that form the entry are covered by a large aluminum canopy the width of the main elevation that faces I-20. The two level high glass wall incorporates a catwalk feature that allows Tandy Leather to utilize the upper sections of glass to display their leather hide products. A 3,000 square foot meeting / classroom is located on the mezzanine level within the store to conduct classes on working with leather or as a conference room for in-house meetings.
Alliance Architects’ Carlos deSaracho served as project manager and Luis Sifuentes was project architect. Bob Moore Construction, Inc. provided general construction and construction management services.
deSaracho remarks, “Having been chosen to design Tandy Leather’s new retail facility has been an exciting opportunity for Alliance Architects. It has given us the chance to be a part of their new concept. It is very exciting to see that as a result of our efforts, a retailer of this stature has made a long-term commitment to the Dallas/Fort Worth area”.
